Aquarium Castles
Another one of my favorite pieces of decoration for my fish tanks are aquarium castles. I suppose I tend to go towards things that are of another time and help to let the imagination go its own way. I think those are the most fun. Like a flash of what it's like to read a good book or get lost in a painting. These kinds of ornaments just transport you into another life. Maybe one that you enjoy better than your own. And maybe through no fault of your own either. There isn't much call for romanticized knights or buccaneers these days.

What I think of when I see aquarium castles depends on exactly what kind they are. Different versions can take me to diffeent places and times. Every journey has its own appeal and fascination involved in taking it. The imagination is a wonderful thing. All that is really necessary is for something ot spark it properly.
Aquarium castles of forgotten ruins with their broken walls and vines creeping up the sides of them tend to make me wonder. What civilization may have lived behind those walls? What adversary breached them? Or was there some other reason for an abandoned city? Disease? Vampire attack? Something even more sinister? Although it's hard to get more sinister than vampires.
Twin aquarium castles staring across from one another, a waterfall in between them, magical in nature. What wizards reside in each? Are they friendly towards one another, or are there constant spells being cast across the wide chasm? Do spells fly at ight while I sleep? Maybe because the wizards are secretly really there. Perhaps out there by a more poweful force than they were, imprisoned for their impudence.
Then there's the princess aquarium castles which looks like something straight out of the sands of the Arabian deserts. There could really be a princess within. A magic carpet ride. A genii involved to grant wishes. Maybe she was reduced to being held captive inside because of the legendary tricks that geniis play. Make one wrong wish and it could backfire on you horribly. Maybe she waits for her prince to come and rescue her. Is there even a prince that can, or is this trickery too dark and ominous for any to save her?
I love to fantasize about all these things. It's the most peaceful thing that I can think of doing. Just sitting back and watching my fish swim around and deciding what great things are happening in all of the tanks. I have several, each one with its own theme from the sort of fish that are in there to the ornaments placed. People have all sorts of things that they do to relieve stress and transport them away from their troubles for a while. Some are destructive, and some are productive. The love of aquarium castles and taking care of fish falls somewhere in-between the two. Which suits me just fine. Anytime that you can find your own paradise and not infringe on anone else's way of life, you really are doing a good job.
